Chapter 11
RUGS

How is the floor show at your house? Shall we start with the living room? Want to give it a modern uncluttered feeling—a lap-of-luxury-look? Try Shaggy (made in 12 inch squares) and choose a color that is becoming to your room and you. We like two shades of dusty beige or caramel or grey but you may have other ideas. You can make it from wall-to-wall size or large enough to place in front of the sofa. If your room is in maple and your lamps are brass, accent it with Daisies, white on a rich, red background. For a colonial bedroom or sewing room there is —you guessed it! — Colonial, a charming circular design. For the younger generation there are little coal black scotties romping on a pale blue with cream background.

There is another gem of a round rug, Circular, for your guest room. For the well-groomed bathroom choose Mosaic or Checkers; for the fireside Crisscross or Stripes. Whether you choose to make a rug of yarn or rags, by following these easy-to-follow directions, you will soon be in a splendid rug-ged shape.
